Woe is Bus: MetroBus Funeral, tonight.

Remember MetroLink Prom? Tonight (May 8th) is the follow-up, since Prop M failed and the St. Louis region has undergone the loss of 44% of its public transit system. Come mourn your favorite departed bus route with us at a funeral procession that’s half New Orleans jazz funeral, half Victorian mourning event. Please wear black!

We will gather at the Convention Center MetroLink station at 7:30pm and parade around Downtown, east of 14th, where bus service has been cut due to budget constraints. Musicians are encouraged to bring instruments to play. And please consider bringing a eulogy to your favorite bus route, or to the system itself. We will be carrying a bus casket, and distributing wailing cloths and prayer cards. We will also be scattering the ashes of old bus schedules.

This is happening rain or shine–nothin’ like a little rain to underscore the tragedy of our loss. Bring your black umbrellas!

  2. Hi,
I have an editorial question about your blog at wordpress.com, “CuriousFeet.” I work for Vocalo.org, an online resource and ongoing radio program within Chicago Public Radio. I would have liked to send this message to via email, and address it to you by name, but your comment feed was the only way that I could find to contact you.

On your front page I noticed that you’ve listed many valuable online resources under “Chicago”. We would be honored if you would consider including a link to Vocalo.org to this list of sites. We are a community radio station that gets all of its audio footage from the public in Chicago and Indiana.

Vocalo.org offers podcasters and any other members of the community opportunities to get creative audio content on the airwaves. Our contributors are largely artistic, tech-curious people who are becoming familiar with radio, and have something to express to the Illinois/Indiana public on the radio waves. We are a fabulous site for blog and radio enthusiasts, and keep a lively blog as part of our site.

Most of our shows have to do with current events and Chicago culture. This raw footage is put together into cohesive radio shows that broadcast 24-7 to the public on 89.5 FM.

Would you be willing to take a look at Vocalo.org and include a link to it on your blog as you feel is merited? I am suggesting this, hoping that adding the link will be mutually beneficial for the audiences of both vocalo.org and CuriousFeet.

If you have questions, please email me. Thank you for your consideration. This message was not generated from a software tool; I’m real! I look forward to hearing back from you!

    Sophie
