At work today, I swapped stories about winter with a customer. I started an anecdote, “When I used to live in Chicago–”
She cut me off: “Why did you move back here?”
Interesting assumption. People do move to Detroit without ties to the place, I swear. The more I say, “I moved here last year!” in social settings, the more I meet people who have recently moved here or who are thinking about it. Okay, we’re drops in the bucket (ocean?), but we do exist, countless “You did WHAT?” spit-takes be damned.
